There is one person in West Australia who is the happiest of them all. The lucky ticket holder has won the $40 million Oz lotto jackpot yesterday. However, the person has not come forward yet to claim the winnings.
According to Perth Now, the mystery winner is a single ticket holder, but not a registered Lotterywest player and certainly not a syndicate. The company has not disclosed the location of the sale of the ticket also because according to the company, it can only be revealed after the winner comes forward. Perth Now reveals that this is the second largest win in Western Australia’s history and fifth equal largest in Australian lotto history.
According to Daily Mail, the secretive lotto winner took the entire Division one prize with the numbers 38, 32, 37, 9, 17, 19 and 1, with the supps of 22 and 41. Paul Andrews, CEO of Lotterywest, revealed that the company was thrilled to have made someone a multi-millionaire. “We saw a record breaking year of Division 1 lotto winners in WA last year and tonight’s win sits closely behind our state’s biggest win of $50 million which was only won in July 2015,” he said. “It’s looking like another lucky year here in the West,” he added.
Yahoo News informs that this is not the end of the winning story. Three West Australians shared in the $21 million jackpot last week. Two Australians shared in the $20 million super draw last month, reveals Daily Mail.
The publication also informs that Western Australia had a winning streak last year, which seems to have trickled into this year. 2015 saw more than $232 million in prize money won between about 100 Division 1 winners. This is a record of sorts as no one has witnessed such high level of prize wins in any single Australian in a year. Also, nobody has seen so many prize winners from a single state so far.
