Another contestant quit “Love Island” this week. This shocked fans and housemates alike. Will a fan favorite return to the Island to take his place? Or will he end up staying like the last contestant who said he would quit?
According to Mail Online, Tom Powell has left the Island in the most “sensational” way. The announcement of his departure came as a surprise to the other contestants. “I don’t want to be here anymore,” he said. “I’m not being stupid. I’m going home.”
His relationship with co-contestant, Sophie Gradon, hit a “breaking point” in last Sunday’s episode. Powell got into an “explosive” row with Gradon over his former girlfriend, Emma Jane Woodham. “She told me I pushed her so far,” he explained. “I’m the reason she’s always unhappy… I don’t want to be here.”
Woodham recently arrived in the villa. Her arrival initially left Powell speechless. ‘That was a shock,” he said. “I didn’t expect that. I was lost for words. I was shaking.” Woodham’s presence on the island put Gradon “on edge.” But Woodham tried to befriend Gradon anyway. Powell also tried to assure her of his feelings for her.
“All I wanted to do was make this work,” he told Gradon. ” I don’t care about Emma… I wasn’t looking for an issue.” But this did not convince Gradon. Powell then quit because of that.
TV viewers voted Malin Andersson off the island just last week. This also shocked a lot of her housemates. Her boyfriend, Terry Walsh, first announced he was also leaving with her. “Don’t get upset. I’m also coming with you, ain’t I?” Walsh even told Andersson. “I’m packing too. And I’m coming with you. I’m not staying without you… I’m not going to win this on my own.”
But later, he changed his mind and decided to stay. To add insult to injury, he had decided to move on from Andersson with Woodham. According to Mirror, fans now want Andersson to return to confront him about it.
Will the show’s producers really bring Andersson back? You can catch “Love Island” tomorrow night on ITV2.
