Fans were in for a shocking ride on Love Island last week. The hit reality dating show finally got its first same sex pairing in Sophie Gradon and newcomer Katie Salmon. However, things did not last long for the two women. Gradon chose to leave the island to be with former contestant Tom Powell. How did Salmon take the news of her first onscreen fling’s exit?
According to Mirror UK, heartache doesn’t really last for too long in the Love Island villa. People find love quickly, and Salmon seems ready to move on. A day after Gradon left, Salmon went out on a date with fellow contestant, Adam Maxted, over a glass of champagne.
Maxted called Gradon’s exit “a blessing in disguise” since it gave him the chance to get to know Salmon better. Salmon, for her part, seems eager to put the past behind her. “I feel like I’m done with my roller coaster,” she told Maxted. “I’ve done my crying. I’ve cried a lot.”
Maxted and Salmon are not the only ones who met their match this week. The remaining couples have also paired up. Alex Bowen and Olivia Buckland will take on next week’s challenges together. Cara De La Hoyde meanwhile has cozied up to Nathan Massey. Adam Jukes and Lauren Whiteside are going strong. Kady McDermott and Scott Thomas have done their fair share of bonding. Terry Walsh, on the other hand, has moved on from Malin Andersson with Emma-Jane Woodham.
Meanwhile, according to the Sun UK, Gradon’s decision to exit earlier shocked a lot of fans. She and Salmon hit it off quite well in the beginning. Gradon even described Salmon as “an angel sent into the villa at a time that I’m at my lowest ebb” earlier last week. However, she still chose to quit the show to be with Powell. Gradon’s Love Island boyfriend earlier left the show after their relationship hit a “breaking point.”
Love Island continues this week on ITV2.
