The mystery surrounding the LG G5 Magic Slot has only deepened with the recent leak, which shows a bulky rear end on the device.
Android Authority got its hands on a supposedly LG G5 photograph with the background blocked to protect source, claiming it to be a legitimate one. One look at the image and it sure looks legit; it features a gold-coloured G5 with a Magic Slot at the bottom-rear panel of the device. The G5 handset features also coincides with the previous leaks further suggesting that this is indeed a legit image.
Earlier renders have shown fans a Magic Slot of sorts, which pulls out in order to house the battery. However, the images suggest that the slot is something more and not an extended battery pack. The image shows a dial, a button, probably a 3.5mm headphone jack and also what appears to be an USB Type-C port or a micro-USB, as noted by Phone Arena.
This does boggle the mind with regards to what exactly it could be, but the image doesn’t give any other clues that may help fans come to a conclusion. Guesses range from a camera module to a projector amongst others. While the curiosity over the Magic Slot will continue to burn bright until the D-day, fans may also be on a look out to figure what the LG G5 “Second Screen” Always-On-display is all about. Recently, prolific leakster Evan Blass confirmed the presence of a second screen. LG also hinted at a “Second Screen” in a statement during the Quick Cover case launch, further intensifying the mystery.
It is a good thing then that the official unveiling happens to be this weekend on February 21 at MWC 2016, the picture would become clearer. Share your thoughts about the mystery of the Magic Slot in the comments section below.
