First it was “Smallville”. Will the “Legion of Super-Heroes” make their next live action appearance in “Supergirl”? Speculations are that it will either be “Supergirl” or “Legends of Tomorrow.”
According to comicbookresources, DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns made this announcement at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. “You’ll see a hint of the Legion on one of our shows,” the CCO teased. However, he refused to specify which show he was referring to. “I love the Legion. They’re underused and hopefully we’ll get them out there soon,” he added.
This is not the first time that the “Legion of Super-Heroes” will be making a live-action appearance. They have already made it to “Smallville”. Season 8 of the TV series introduced “Legion” members Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy. The episode was titled “Legion” and was written by Johns himself.
According to Cinemablend, the “Legion” members helped Clark Kent in his battle with Brainiac in that episode. Additionally, the season finale, titled “DoomsDay” saw Cosmic Boy returning to help. Another team member Brainiac 5 featured in the Season 10 episode.
Other than appearing in TV series, the “Legion” has their own animated Legion of Super-Heroes and have been guest starring in “Superman: The Animated Series” and “Justice League Unlimited.”
TVline speculates that (given the history) “Legion” could logically get their live action appearance on CBS’ “Supergirl”, because both Superboy and Superman have figured into the group’s countless incarnations.
However, given the number of DC shows and the paucity in information, it is extremely hard to pinpoint the exact show for the “Legion of Super-Heroes” appearance. And what about the time travelling aspect? Given that element, they could very well feature in “Legends of Tomorrow” too.
For now, fans will have to keep an eye on their favorite shows to make sure that they don’t miss the “Legion of Super-Heroes” cameo.
