It seems that LeBron James is caught in this whole drama between Nike and Kanye West, while the latter takes a dig at Nike in his recently released track “Facts”.
Once again Kanye West has released his new track “Facts” hours before midnight on New Year’s Eve. The new single has taken a shot at many recent headlines including Bill Cosby, Steve Harvey’s Miss Universe disaster and even Nike, the sportswear brand.
Kanye had apparently started work with the company for his “Air Yeezy” sneakers reports news.com.au. However, they couldn’t reach a commercial agreement and West left to work with rival Adidas in October 2015. If the lyrics of his new track are anything to go by, then it seems that Kanye is still bitter about the whole thing.
For instance, he has criticized Nike’s new lifetime contract with LeBron James, which, according to sources is the largest financial arrangement between any athlete and the company (Nike). In yet another potshot, West says his Yeezy shoes are more popular than Air Jordan’s basketball sneakers and gives a shout to Adidas to sell even more sneakers than before.
When questioned about the song, and if he has heard it, James reveals that he hasn’t had the time to hear the much-talked single that heated up the Web on New Year’s Eve. “I haven’t really listened to it. I heard about it but I haven’t listened to it,” said the Cavaliers’ superstar to Cleveland.com on Monday.
“Obviously I’m going to side with Nike no matter who it is,” he added. “It’s just, it’s family when you talk about Nike, and I’m always on their side no matter what the situation is, so. We don’t look upon nobody on our side, we just try to put the best athletes that we can out on the floor every night.”
