The Last of Us 2 release date rumours continue to spread online, but developers are still mum about its existence. While updates regarding the upcoming sequel purely run on speculation as of the moment, fans are still glimmering with hope about its impending launch.

Previous reports have already claimed that Naughty Dog is in no way developing the title unless any Uncharted 4 work is done.  Now that the PS4 exclusive has been released, fans await any new announcements for the highly anticipated follow-up title.

In an interview with Uncharted 4 creators Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, both admitted that doing the 4th instalment was definitely different from The Last of Us.  While both were really careful not to disclose anything that will mislead waiting fans about The Last of Us 2 release date, they did share some experiences they had developing the first title and the last instalment in the Uncharted franchise.

“When you’re doing something new it’s always exciting,” Druckmann told Venture Beat.

“That’s why coming back to Uncharted was exciting, because Last of Us was so different. To come to Uncharted was reinvigorating in that way.”

“That’s why, in a lot of ways, Uncharted 4 was a love letter to the franchise,” he added.

“But also in a way a love letter to Naughty Dog, if you think about all the stuff we put in there, the nods to Crash Bandicoot and so on.”

“When I started at Naughty Dog, one of my first memories was seeing Bruce at a programmers’ desk with an early version of a PS3, this character running around, and someone telling me, ‘That’s going to be our PS3 title.’ My memories of Naughty Dog are all part of the Uncharted franchise.”

Do you think Naughty Dog will work on The Last of Us 2 release now that Uncharted 4 has been launched?
