The Los Angeles Lakers travel to Boston on Wednesday, Dec. 30, to play against the Boston Celtics at the TD Garden starting 7.30 PM ET.
It is not only about Lakers vs the Celtics. The game will see the last of Kobe Bryant in Boston as he bids adieu to his successful 20th NBA Season, as per the LA Times. We don’t mind to see a Bryant vs Celtics rivalry too given the not-so-happy memories between the two.
Reports suggest that what will be actually interesting is how Boston receives Kobe Bryant. As Bryant moves along from one arena to the other, he has been received quite well after he announced the end season retirement.
The crowd in Boston perceives him like a villain. It all started when “Bryant was unable to stop the landslide in the 2008 NBA Finals — 131-92, Boston, in the series-clinching Game 6 — and if part of Celtics fans’ joy was beating the Lakers, another part was beating Bryant.
When Bryant used short sentences to express himself in the post-match ceremony he said, “Just upset more than anything”.
“But I’m proud of the way that we performed all year. At the same time, understand that second place just means you’re the first loser.”
Of course that didn’t quite go well with the Boston Fans’ and even went on to pelt stones at the Lakers Team and rock the team bus.
Taking all the facts into consideration, Bryant’s visit to Boston would be an interesting one and we would like to see how the Boston crowd behaves in his presence.
Boston Celtics have so far been a better performer in the NBA this season than the erratic Lakers’ side, as per the NESN reports.
Stay tuned for all the live action.
