Real Madrid will host Celta Vigo in their La Liga campaign at the Santiago Bernadeu in Madrid on Saturday, March 5, starting 3 PM GMT.
The Madrid side slipped to a 12-point deficit behind table toppers Barcelona after the Catalonian side registered a thumping victory over the Rayo Vallecano side on Thursday. The Los Blancos are placed third behind Atletico Madrid.
Real coach Zinedine Zidane heavily criticised his team for their poor performance against city rivals, Atletico Madrid, after their 1-0 defeat last weekend. As per the Sports Mole, the Real side did manage to stage a comeback in Wednesday night’s game against Levante.
The 18-year-old Borja Mayoral made his full debut against Levante and seemed to have impressed his manager. Zidane said, “We know what Borja [Mayoral] can provide us with. He is the second number nine in the squad, no doubt about that. There is just Benzema and him.
“There are many players but he’s doing well and he is also committed to the team. He works well in training and he’s very young.
“He feels confident in the pitch and plays with huge personality. That’s the most important thing.”
According to Four Four Two, beating Madrid in their own Backyard would be a tough task for the Celta side. Denmark international Daniel Wass was quoted as saying, “We are going to play as we know, be faithful to our game-plan and to take the three points.
“All games in Spain are special but when you face one of the great teams it is even more so. I’m looking forward to playing at the Bernabeu.
“There are still many games to go but Barcelona are at the top and have an important advantage over Real Madrid. This is football and anything can happen, but now I see it as difficult [for Madrid to win the league].”
