Atletico Madrid play Real Sociedad in their La Liga campaign at the Vicente Calderon in Madrid on Tueday, March 1, starting 9:30 pm local time.
According to Sky Sports, Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has heavily criticised his side for failing to penetrate the formidable defence posed by city rivals Atletico Madrid. Diego Simeone’s men have maintained their second spot behind Barcelona as Real Madrid slipped to a 9-point difference from the table toppers.
“We were not as ready for the game as we thought we were,” Zidane said. “We needed to run more, against a rival who had played just three days earlier.”
“In a game like this, you have to do more, run more, put our foot in more, do more. If you don’t do this against the second-best team in the league, this is what happens.”
Antoine Griezmann is the man behind the counter-attack which led to the 1-0 win over Real Madrid. They have been quite consistent with their performance and his expected to win the home match against visiting Real Sociedad, convincingly.
As per the Four Four Two reports, Simeone’s top priority is to remain among the top three and qualify for the Champions League.
“It is difficult to see Barcelona losing that many games,” he said. “Our objective since the start of the season has been to finish in the top three.
“We always try and be as far up the table as possible. But we are relaxed about it.”
“This is a good moment to see that work, stability, collective effort, the team over individuals, pays off,” Simeone states.
“We have a very defined identity.
“Though we lacked goals in recent games, the team always had the same intention.”
