The Spanish La Liga midweek fixtures are highlighted by Real Madrid vs Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabeu. The game is scheduled on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 8:00 p.m. CET. What makes this game special is that Real Madrid are on a mission to surpass the La Liga record for most number of victories in a row. Last weekend, they equaled the 16-match record previously set by FC Barcelona in 2010/11.

Real Madrid matched their own club record of 15 consecutive wins when they defeated Osasuna last week. They then equaled the league record on Sunday after winning against Espanyol. The Real Madrid vs Villarreal game provides an opportunity to further extend that record. However, Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane knows that it will not be an easy task.

“We know that it will be another difficult game. We are playing against a side that has not lost yet, they’ve got very good players,” said Zidane as he spoke to the press ahead of the match. In last weekend’s victory against Espanyol, the team had to play without Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, who were both unfit to play. Luckily, the Real Madrid bench stepped up. James Rodriguez finally got a chance to shine. So did Alvaro Morata, who has just returned to the club this season.

On Wednesday’s match against Villarreal, the team will be back in full force. Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale have been named into the squad. Here’s a full roster from both teams:

Real Madrid:

Goalkeeper: Casilla, Rubén Yáñez and Craninx
Defenders: Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Varane, Nacho, Marcelo and Danilo
Midfielders: Kroos, James, Kovacic, Asensio and Isco
