‘My Kitchen Rules’ 2016 Recap: Gareth & Alex Goes Home With No Regrets

Best friends Gareth and Alex were eliminated from “My Kitchen Rules” Tuesday night and they have no regrets joining Australia’s reality cooking show.

The Queensland boys were sent home after a sudden death cook-off with Rosie and Paige, Mail Online reported.

It was the second sudden death round for Gareth and Alex, which gave them confidence before they started cooking. However, despite of serving impressive dishes to the judges, the girls won the round.

The miners prepared some elaborate gourmet meals with “chilies” theme during the round, Sydney Morning Herald reported. Their entrée was five spice prawns with papaya salad and coriander dressing. They also served snapper with green chili coconut broth and a dessert of doughnuts with chili chocolate ice cream and rhubarb, Mail Online wrote.

After they were eliminated, the duo said they will return to mining and pursue their cooking instead.  “Bummed to be leaving early, but we’ll try and take our dreams and make them a reality.”

“I was very proud of what you produced tonight and we are very sad to see you go,” judge Pete Evans said.

Gareth also spoke about their time on the show and how much they enjoyed it. “Our experience on My Kitchen Rules has been crazy but amazing,” he said. “We came into this competition as best mates, we’re walking away stronger than ever,” Alex added.

Rosie and Paige, meanwhile, served cauliflower fritters with yoghurt sauce and tabbouleh for entrée, roasted quail with peas mint and speck for a main and a dessert of flour-less Persian cake with rose water jelly.

Gareth and Alex scored a total of 49/60 from the judges and guest judges, including Pete, Manu Feildel, Karen Martini, Colin Fassnidge, Liz Egan and Guy Grossi, while Rosie and Paige received 52/60.
