The release date fo Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole’s highly anticipated collaboration album is reportedly delayed. According to sources, the artists are busy doing their respective projects.
Lamar is directing the latest music video for TDE artist Lance Skiiiwalker with the song entitled “Could It Be”, notes Exclaim. He is joining his friends PANAMÆRA and Top Dawg Entertainment president Dave Free for the project.
Christian Daily notes that the rapper has been busy with different projects as well. He had contributions for Beyonce’s “Lemonade,” and had lent his tune for Mister F.A.B’s new song “Survive.”
On the other hand, J.Cole is preparing for his much-awaited concert happening in Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa on June 18. The event’s front acts include Johannesburg’s top hip hop artists and DJ’s like Reason, Emtee, Kwesta, and Speedsta.
Given the rappers’ busy schedule, fans are still hoping that the joint album is still a reality. Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole are about to release a statement regarding the buzz when the right time comes.
Fans are still holding on to TDE president Free’s statement about the much-awaited material. He revealed to MTV News that the possibilities are endless.
“Everything’s a possibility, but I’ma say this, too: Kendrick and Cole are in a place in their careers and in their lives where they have to keep going,” he said. “Of course, they’re two of the biggest rappers out, but they still have to keep grinding. There’s so much work that they have to continue to do.”
The president went on to continue that Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole are both musically talented and collaborating on a new album must be hard for both individuals. “It all has to be a singular project, but it just can’t happen overnight,” the TDE president said.
