Jimmy Fallon of “The Tonight Show” seems to be hitting the right chords to help fans reminisce their favourite childhood TV shows. After “Saved By the Bell”, the show featured “Kenan & Kel”, the 90s sitcom with a “Good Burger sketch” on Wednesday.
Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson reunited on-screen after 10 years and had a great time performing the skit, according to Buzzfeed. Mitchell played Ed the Cashier, while Kenan played a construction worker “Lester Oaks” from the show “All That” and Jimmy Fallon himelf was part of the sketch as a “Good Burger” waiter, Cosmopolitan reported.
The audience roared in nostalgic awe on the background when the sketch started. The “Aw Here It Goes” theme song sounds to be as blissfully haunting even after almost 10 years of the show coming to an end.
Earlier in 2012, TMZ had reported a dispute among the two co-stars where Kenan allegedly backed out of an interview with Kel and stated that he doesn’t want to be seen with Mitchell. Kel had claimed “I have not been upset about this. I respect his choice of wanting to make a name for himself solo. There is no bad blood on my side, I’m not declining a reunion, I know the fans love the show and would love to see some type of appearance with us … I just don’t see that ever happening because of how he really feels.”
The fans who had given up all hopes the two reuniting were shocked with this great surprise treat Fallon had to offer in his show.
Kenan & Kel supposedly are best pals since childhood and have been telly favorites and winers of the Kid’s Choice awards in 1998. They also list in the VH1’s Greatest Kid stars at no. 40 and 39 respectively. Kel moved on to be seen in movies like Mystery Men and also co-hosted Dance 360 along with rapper Fredro Starr, while his counterpart Kenan can be seen on the popular sketch comedy Saturday Night Live.
