Fans may get to give a new name to Kanye West’s new album, currently titled “Waves.” According to HollywoodLife, the singer’s wife, reality star Kim Kardashian, posted a poll on Twitter. She asked her millions of Twitter followers to vote for a brand new title.
The next tweet, released five minutes later, added a new option.
By the evening of February 1, the poll indicated a preference by fans for a new title: “So Help Me God.” The current title, “Waves,” is in third place.
“Waves” replaced “Swish,” the original title for West’s new album, on January 26.
The new title sparked a Twitter war between Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa. Yeezy’s action caught the ire of Khalifa, who pointed out that Waves is the album title of his pal Max B.
The word war between the two escalated with Amber Rose stepping in as well. Amber Rose is West’s former girlfriend and Khalifa’s ex-wife.
Whether or not there is a change in the album title, plans for the album launch are in motion. The artist plans an extravagant debut scheduled for next week.
According to Entertainment Weekly, West will premiere his new album on February 11 at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Fans around the world can also watch the event in select theaters in their country.
Rumours about the event circulated for weeks. West made the official announcement on Monday.
Tickets for the event are now available. To date, the ticketing website lists 25 countries including Australia and the United Kingdom. However, additional locations may follow.
The site also posted this note at the bottom: “This program is not rated and may not be suitable for children under 18. Parental discretion is advised.”
Artist Vanessa Beecroft will also perform during the event. Beecroft is West’s visual art collaborator. She conceptualised West’s fashion shows for Yeezy Seasons 1 and 2.
