Aquaman is a known member of the iconic Justice League. Fans of the original comic books even know that he is more than just that description. Aquaman is a founding member of the famed superhero team. However, will he be an initial villain in the upcoming “Justice League” movie?
According to Movie Pilot, this just might be the case. “Justice League: Part 1” might actually portray Aquaman as an “initial antagonist.” And he might even be seen battling Wonder Woman. However, these theories have yet to be confirmed.
Movie Pilot’s source, Heroic Insider, expounded on these ideas in a video blog they posted on YouTube. “Supposedly in Justice League, it’s a conflict, or war, with Atlantis early on in the movie,” Heroic Insider suggested. “Supposedly [Batman and Wonder Woman would] go down to Atlantis. But Aquaman is not having any of it. And on top of that – here is something cool – the Amazonians and Atlanteans don’t like each other. They have a thousand-year-old conflict.” In the comic books, Aquaman is, of course, the king of Atlantis. Meanwhile, Wonder Woman is an Amazon princess. Will Aquaman really be an initial bad guy for Part One? Will he really battle it out with Batman and Wonder Woman before he joins the League? Stay tuned for updates.
Movie Pilot, however, made it clear that Aquaman would likely not be a villain for too long. That is, if the Atlantean king becomes a villain at all. He would only be working against Batman and Wonder Woman at the start.
Meanwhile, Aquaman’s standalone movie is still in pre-production. According to Hit Fix, director James Wan recently discussed his plans for the film.
“I would love to capture the fun spirit of high-sea adventures, treasure hunts, sea monsters. That’s the spirit that I’m going for. Swashbuckling,” Wan said.
