Jordan Brand is releasing yet another colorway for its iconic sneaker, Jordan 7. Following the release of the Jordan Super.Fly 4 “Marvin the Martian” edition last week, sneaker fans will be excited to know that the brand is dropping the Air Jordan 7 “Marvin the Martian” this weekend.
The pair will be released in Nike and Jordan Brand stores around the world on Saturday, Aug 15. It will have a price tag of $190 a pair and can also be purchased online through stores like Eastbay and Footlocker. It will be available in Men’s and Boys Grade School sizes.
With official colors Black/ University Red/ Green Pulse/ Cool Grey, the Air Jordan 7 “Marvin the Martian” features a predominant Black leather upper with hints of Red, Green and Grey linings. It has a Purple inner and a Green pull tab on the back with the number “23”. A red Jumpan logo is situated on the sides of the sneakers.
While the Looney Tunes character has always been a part of the Jordan Brand series of sneakers ever since, it seems that the current “Marvin the Martian” is almost an replica of the “Barcelona Nights” colorway — a nod to Michael Jordan’s 1992 Olympic Gold Medal won in Spain, Sole Collector noted. It was also the first year the Air Jordan 7 was released in the market.
Celebrating its 23rd anniversary of the sneaker, the Brand has been releasing several colorways of the shoe for sneaker collectors and Jordan fans.
As for the Looney Tun character, Bleacher Report noted that Marvin the Martian has been a staple character in the Jordan Brand shoe collection.
“The biggest reason Marvin is the dopest of dope, however, is because he wore kicks…Marvin was rocking Jordans 15 years before Michael Jordan was even born.”
