Singer and songwriter John Legend and wife Chrissy Teigen welcomed their first child, a baby girl, and named her Luna Simone Stephens. They announced about their bundle of joy on Twitter and Instagram, notes People. While the world awaits the “Harry Potter” spin-off “Fantastic Beasts” movie, it’s fun to know that the celebrity couple has named their child after the Luna Lovegood character from the Harry Potter books and movies. Evanna Lynch, who played the character in the films, recently expressed interest in appearing in the “Fantastic Beasts” movie series.
“Our new love is here! Luna Simone Stephens, born on Thursday, the 14th. We couldn’t be happier!” Legend wrote on his Twitter account on Sunday. His wife and model Chrissy Teigen took to her Instagram profile to announce the arrival of Luna, with a photo mentioning the baby’s weight. “She’s here! Luna Simone Stephens, we are so in love with you! And sleepy. Very sleepy,” Teigen said. Teigen also joked on Twitter “to everyone asking, John is healing perfectly.” Teigen couldn’t contain her excitement at becoming a mother for the first time of course. “Thank you for all the well wishes!!! we are so happy and excited! i dunno what to tweet now. does my twitter change? this is so awkward,” she said.
People mentioned that Teigen had announced her pregnancy news in October on Instagram and was undergoing IVF after facing some complications trying to conceive. The couple also chose a female embryo. “I’ve made this decision,” Teigen said. “Not only am I having a girl, but I picked the girl from her little embryo. I picked her and was like, ‘Let’s put in the girl.’” Many would question the decision to choose the sex of a child, but, well, there it is.
Teigen also told People that they were excited to be parents and looking forward to this new magical chapter in their lives. “We’ve been together so long, and sometimes we look at each other and we’re like, ‘I know everything about you and you know everything about me,’” she said. “But we have no idea what we’re going to be like as parents. I think it’ll be really fun. I’m excited.” Well, here’s hoping baby Luna can soon begin spotting gnomes and Nargles.
