The Marvel television universe is in full swing. Netflix has officially green lit Marvel’s The Defenders, a crime-fighting quartet composed of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. But before Hell Kitchen’s superhero squad gets deployed, Netflix is set to launch Luke Cage this September.
With Mike Colter taking on his own television series, what does this mean for his role in Jessica Jones Season 2?
In the final episode of the first season, Luke Cage succumb to Kilgrave’s powers and he was used as a weapon against Jessica. The two engaged in a death match, with Jessica finding it difficult to snap Luke out of Kilgrave’s compulsion.
Having no other choice, Jessica aimed a shotgun at Luke’s chin, after which Cage told her to do what she needed to do. Jessica fired the shot.
When Luke recovered, he found out that Jessica had ended Kilgrave’s life but she was going to get arrested. Luke tried to help her, but Temple said he would also get arrested if he did so.
Temple left Luke for a while, and when he returned Luke was gone. Is Luke really out of the Jessica Jones cast for season 2?
Jessica and Luke still have unfinished business, and actress Krysten Ritter confirmed fans will see a lot of them together in Jessica Jones Season 2.
“I love me some Mike Coulter,” Ritter told ET Online.
“[Jessica and Luke] are so different, but they both have something kind of broken inside, and they identify with each other because of that. There’s just some magic that happens”
And that “magic” landed them on top of ET’s Sexiest TV Couples of 2015 list.
Actor Mike Colter added that Jessica and Luke are “on the same page” and their relationship is something “you can’t put your finger on.”
Production for Jessica Jones Season 2 will begin next year, but fans will be seeing more of Mike Colter in his very own Luke Cage series, which will hit Nextflix this September. In the series, Luke will sort out some trouble in Harlem. According to Collider, he will take on the job of protecting people because the city’s law enforcement is either incapable or corrupt.
