For quite some time there have been problems hovering over who is going to be next Bond. This started from rumors making rounds that the lead actor Daniel Craig won’t return as 007. While there are a few still hoping for his return, there are others who see slim chances. If sources are to be believed, the James Bond TV series replaces Craig’s commitment.

Just a few days ago, news broke of a new Showtime series Purity. Reports also said that Daniel Craig plays one of the lead roles in it. With this, speculations appeared that his commitment for the series will keep him occupied enough. In turn, he would hardly have time to come back to James Bond for the next installment.

However, clarifying the situation as well as consoling the fans of Craig, David Nevins, the network CEO said, “It depends on when they do the next James Bond movie, but I don’t think it precludes him, is the answer. This will largely be completed during the course of 2017, depending how long they’re willing to wait and shoot the next Bond. There might be some breaks somewhere, but (production) will be fairly continuous,” reports Deadline.

Going by his statement, it is evident that Nevins is as clueless as the fans about the scheduled shoot of James Bond 25 by Sony and MGM.  Meanwhile, we also heard the name of Tom Hiddleston as the top contender for next James Bond. Of course, the Thor actor came out and refuted the news, but one can’t deny the possibilities.

Meanwhile, if one looks at the success rate of Craig as Bond, MGM witnessed tremendous profit. All his four movies as Bond earned over $3 billion in total. It is no wonder then that the studio wouldn’t let him go that easily and would hold him back.

In one of the news posts, BBC even informed that Craig hasn’t made a decision yet.  At the same time, we hope you remember Craig’s statement during  the press tour for Spectre, when he said that he would rather “slit his wrists” than do another Bond movie.

Where will all these lead? There’s not actually a James Bond TV series, but will Craig ditch the James Bond movie for his new TV stint? Only time has the answer.
