Actor Tom Hiddleston is one step closer to being the next James Bond. This, a source close to the actor just confirmed this week.
According to Birth Movies Death, a purported insider told them that the actor has been brought in by movie executives to discuss the role. “Hiddleston is in fact in advanced talks to take over the role of James Bond from Daniel Craig,” the film blog claimed. However, Birth Movies Death’s source did not confirm if the actor has secured the deal. “While talks have indeed taken place… no official offer has been made – yet,” their source insisted.
Neither the actor nor the film’s producers have confirmed the reported tip.
Hiddleston is not new to on-screen portrayals that involve espionage, though. The British actor actually just finished playing a spy in “The Night Manager.” Would he be up to playing another world famous super spy? Would he be willing to step in as the next James Bond?
Hiddleston earlier said he would be willing if the opportunity ever comes his way. “I simply love the theme tune, the tropes and the mythology. I love the whole thing,” he told Sunday Times UK. “If it ever came knocking, it would be an extraordinary opportunity. And I’m very aware of the physicality of the job. I would not take it lightly.”
Meanwhile, the actor also had a lot to say about the last time he played a spy on screen. The Radio Times earlier asked him to discuss what he learned about that line of work after he took on the “The Night Manager” role of spy Jonathan Pine.”A spy must possess an almost unnatural ability to dissimulate, to hide in plain sight,” he wrote. “[A spy must possess] a capacity for self-effacement and self-invention, which in itself is dangerous.”
