While no official confirmation has been released by Apple, rumors about its next generation iPhones continue to swirl around the web. The latest of these reports shows mockup photos of the rumored iPhone 6c — a cheaper version of the iPhone 6 series.
As first reported by 9to5 Mac, mockup images of a smaller iPhone show a device which adapts the curved edges of the iPhone 6 line. However, what makes it different is the availability of brighter colors.
The website reports previous rumors suggesting that the iPhone 6c will be released in the spring. If it indeed launches during this time, the 6c will be the first of Apple’s devices to debut in such schedule. 9to5 Mac also adds that while the iPhone 6c would adapt the physical body of the higher end iPhone 6, it will have colors that resembles the iPod Touch.
However, the design is not the only set of rumors about the iPhone 6c.
According to BGR, the 6c will potentially feature 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, an A9 processor, and a 1,642 mAh battery. The website adds that the rumored device may retain Touch ID but not include 3D Touch.
Below are some of the mockup images 9to5 Mac released:
BGR notes that if indeed the iPhone 6c will be as attractive as the mockup images, the stigma on the iPhone 5c may be forgotten.
Mac Rumors recalls the history of the plastic iPhone 5c which was replaced by the iPhone 5s as the affordable option of Apple’s line of smartphones. Initially, the website reports that the iPhone 6c has been rumored to come out alongside the iPhone 6 and 6s, but that obviously did not happen.
Still, the website was able to share photos of the 6c’s rear housing. In the photo, a lighter pink casing is showcased.
Nevertheless, as with all these iPhone rumors, nothing can be taken as absolute unless officially confirmed by Apple.
