Food is not the one getting more likes in Instagram nowadays – it is glitter beards.

Glitter beard for men is the new Christmas trend in the photo-sharing site.

More and more men are sporting beards and to make it even more interesting, some are putting on some spark on their facial hair.

Daily Mail noted that images on Instagram show silvers and golds as the most popular shades of beard glitter, but there were also those who use purples, reds and greens glitters.

One duo who is popular for their decorating their beards, also embrace the sparkling Christmas beard trend. Best friends, Brian and Jonathan, from Portland Oregon, known online as TheGay Beards, shared on Instagram photos of the latest Christmas trend.

They also shared a step-by-step video on YouTube  how to recreate their look, which they described as a “delicate” process.

The pair advised getting facial hair into shape beforehand – as glitter can be very exposing for an unkempt beard. “If your beard is not shaped properly you will live with that regret,” Jonathan said.

Once the beard is greased to perfection, the glitter is poured over the facial fluff, and Brian warned: “You have to be careful not to breathe it in.”

USA Today noted that hashtag #glitterbeard already has nearly 4,000 associated posts on Instagram.

Daily Mail reported that London advertising agency, Grey London, introduced festive beard grooming trend last year by selling beard baubles.

Ollie Dearn of Grey London said the product has been particularly popular with Brits but it is also becoming popular to Australians, Americans, Kiwis, Germans and French.

Meanwhile, glitter beards are not the only trending on social media these days. Metro noted that glitter pits are being presented as the next festive beauty trend as well.

While women are increasingly cultivating their armpit hair in protest against society’s sexist beauty standards, some are choosing to dye their armpit with pastel colors and putting some glitters on it.
