Disney announces the fifth instalment of “Indiana Jones” and Harrison Ford is still the lead star.
According to Disney, Steven Spielberg will also return as the director and the movie will be released on July 19, 2019.
“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” Disney chairman Alan Horn said in a statement. “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”
Several actors had been rumoured to replace the 73-year-old actor as the famous archaeologist. In 2015, it was reported that “Guardians of the Galaxy” actor Chris Pratt will take over the role, USA Today reported. It turned out Disney is not yet ready to let Ford go.
Here are five of Ford’s epic stunts that we hope to see in the upcoming sequel.
1.Jones jumped from the horse onto the tank. Hollywood’s leading stuntmen Vic Armstrong told Short List it is the most memorable stunt in all “Indiana Jones” movie because of the degree of difficulty involved in making it.
2. Jones on top of a cliff and jumped onto a horse.
3. The truck chase in “Raiders of the Lost Ark” wherein Indiana is being dragged under the truck.
4. Indiana was fighting on the top of a tank while beating a German commander in “The Last Crusade.”
5. Simply all his whipping and puzzle-solving skills.
The first “Indiana Jones” film, “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” was released in 1981 and is considered one of the American Film Institute’s 100 Greatest American Films of All Time. “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” followed three years after, and “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” was released in 1989. More than a decade later, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” premiered in 2008 but it did not perform well in box office, Fox News noted.
The four instalments of the iconic franchise have a total gross of nearly $2 billion at the global box office.
