The Taiwan-based company just released the P9 earlier this year. Are they really about to launch an upgraded variant of this phone? What do we know about the Huawei G9 so far? Will tech giant Huawei really unveil a new mobile phone soon?

According to Phones Review UK, Huawei will release the Huawei P9 Youth Edition as The G9. Rumours suggest that the Huawei G9 will be launched today, May 4.

Huawei’s next offering will reportedly cost around A$346 (around $260 or CNY1,688). This price is “rather high” for this type of phone, according to Phones Review UK. The tech blog also pointed out that Huawei recently launched Honor 5C. And the Honor 5C is a phone with “very similar” specs but sold for a much lower price. However, these bits of info are yet to be confirmed.

Phones Review UK also reports that a more advanced G9 might also drop soon. This advanced version will reportedly be sold for A$409 (around $307 or CNY1,988). But again, not much detail has been released about it yet.

Rumours suggest that the standard G9 will be 7.5mm thick and 143g heavy. The phone will reportedly have a polycarbonate build which will come in black, gold, or white. The phone will reportedly have a 2GHz Kirin 650 octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 5.2-inch display with Full HD resolution. It is rumoured to be coming with a 13-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, a fingerprint scanner, and a 2900 mAh battery. The G9 will most likely run the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS skinned with EMUI. However, we have to remember that these specs have not been confirmed yet.

Meanwhile, Android Headlines recently reviewed the Huawei P9. The tech blog commended it for having an “excellent camera” and an “excellent build quality throughout.” Will the Huawei G9 be as satisfactory as its predecessor? Stay tuned for updates.
