The list of participants for the Hopman Cup 2017 has officially been released. Organizers of the event are hoping to feature a blockbuster final match between Swiss star Roger Federer and local bet Nick Kyrgios. The event has been scheduled to take place on Jan. 1-7 at the Perth Arena in Australia.
According to a report by Adelaide Now, the organizers of the Hopman Cup 2017 have gone to great lengths to ensure the participation of both Roger Federer and Nick Kyrgios. The schedule has even been moved around to accommodate the players’ preferences.
With this being said, a dream final between the two players is all that the organizers can hope for. However, before this could happen, both Federer and Kyrgios will have to go through a tough invitational field. Not only that, with the Hopman Cup being a mixed doubles event, the pair would also have to rely heavily on their partners.
Federer will be teaming up with Belinda Bencic to form Team Switzerland. Meanwhile, Kyrgios has partnered up with Daria Gavrilova for Team Australia.
The official list of participants has now been released by the official Hopman Cup website. Among the list of players who would work hard to block Team Australia and Team Switzerland from reaching the finals are as follows:
Group A with Team Switzerland:
France: Kristina Mladenovic and Richard Gasquet
Germany: Andrea Petkovic and Alexander Zverev
Great Britain: Heather Watson and Dan Evans
Group B with Team Australia:
Czech Republic: Petra Kvitova and Adam Pavlasek
Spain: Lara Arruabarrena and Feliciano Lopez
United States: Coco Vandeweghe and Jack Sock
The Hopman Cup is an invitational mixed doubles tournament held yearly in Australia. It is an indoor tournament played between eight teams of mixed-gender players. The event is named after Harry Hopman (1906-1985), a legendary Australian tennis player and coach.
