Home and Away 2016 popularity is making some fans to do foolish things because of their desire to meet their favorite characters in person.
Home and Away actor Dan Ewing issued a catfish alert on his social media accounts to warn fans against scammers. The warning came after a woman quits her job to move overseas just to see Ewing. It turned out that she has been “catfished” with a fake Ewing Facebook profile created by a scammer.
Ewing’s ex-wife Marni Little told Mail Online that the actor found out the fake account when she received a Facebook message. Little said the message was from a complete stranger, saying his girlfriend’s friend was talking to Ewing over the social media site. The unknown sender however raised some doubts if it is really the actor his girlfriend’s friend was talking to.
“The guy sent me a screen shot of the Facebook profile of ‘Dan Ewing,’ and obviously I knew straight away it was fake, so I sent it to Dan and I said I’d help out spreading the word. Dan and I then both reported it. I was outraged the person had used a picture of my baby on the account,” Little said.
The former couple shared on Instagram a screen grab along with a warning that someone created a fake Facebook account and now pretending to be the Home and Away 2016 star.
The fake Facebook account has been deactivated since.
Ewing and Little got together in December 2015. They cited irreconcilable differences for the separation. In his most recent interview, Ewing admitted that he was to blame of the split. The actor said he let his ego get in the way of his marriage. He admitted it was his biggest regret in life.
Ewing is known for his role as Heath Braxton in Aussie’s long-running soap. He is set to return in Home and Away 2016 later this year along with on-screen partner Lisa Gormley. Both stars left the show in 2014.
