At least one of the nine Home and Away 2016 characters will not survive the latest tragedy that hit Summer Bay.

Residents of Summer Bay are in panic after learning of the plane crash. Nine of Bay’s residents are on board the plane when it crashed and was eventually engulfed by flames. On board the flight to a winery to celebrate Tori Morgan’s (Penny McNamee) 30th birthday are her brothers Mason (Orpheus Pledger) and Brody (Jackson Heywood). Irene Roberts (Lynne McGranger), Evie (Philippa Northeast), Leah (Ada Nicodemou), Nate (Kyle Pryor), Billie (Tessa de Josselin) and Duncan (Benedict Wall) also joined the trip.

Irene may probably survive the crash since there are upcoming scenes involving the character.

In an interview with Stuff.co, McGranger hinted that her character may return for more episodes. “It’s just part of my life now and, God willing, I’ve still got another 10, who knows, 15, even 20 years left in me. As long as the show keeps going, I hope that while I still have my health and my positive outlook and attitude, that I’ll still have a job there,” she said.

Almost all of the plane passengers have experienced tragedy in their lives recently. Irene was kidnapped by Mick Jennings (Kristian Schmid), who later claimed to be her son. Nate was left heartbroken by wife Ricky, while Billie was raped and is now pregnant.

Evie, on the other hand, lost his twin brother Oscar and aunt Hannah during the caravan explosion. She also recently broke up with boyfriend Josh (Jackson Gallagher). Northeast earlier teased that Evie could be the next one to die in Home and Away 2016. The actress thinks her character may probably be “cursed” since most of her love ones have either died or left her.

Meanwhile, Justin Morgan (James Stewart) will plan a dangerous rescue mission on his own.  Justin believes it is Spike, the Morgan family’s enemy, who is responsible for the disaster.

Don’t miss Home and Away 2016 when it returns tonight (August 22) on Network Seven in Australia. The show also airs during weekdays at 1:15 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Channel 5 in the UK.
