The Harry Potter star Josh Herdman, 28, who played Draco Malfoy’s right-hand man, Gregory Goyle, has now taken his career in a very different direction as an MMA cage-fighter. Harry Potter is the big-screen adaptation of British novel series by J.K. Rowling.
After finishing his training in mixed martial arts, the English actor recently won his first cage-fighting match against Polish opponent Janusz Walachowski in Romford, East London.
In an interview with addictedotr.com, Herdman said, “I’ve been training traditional Japanese jujitsu for nearly five years and hold a shodan black belt. I chose MMA because I love the sport. It’s raw, exciting, and unpredictable. I find it more interesting than boxing although I appreciate the beauty and art in boxing. It also made sense to move onto MMA because of my jujitsu training.”
News of Herdman’s dramatic transformation has come as a surprise, just months after Harry Potter fans were told that a new J.K. Rowling book was ready to release, News reveals. He has been associated with Harry Porter series from the beginning.
Even though Herdman is now more into his exciting new profession, he hasn’t fallen out of love with his acting dreams. He is regularly meeting with his agent and attending auditions.
Growing up around sport, Herdman frequently looked through newspaper cuttings of his professional rugby league player and boxer dad Martin.
Herdman is another Harry Potter actor who has grown up to be very handsome. Matthew Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom, is garnering a huge female-fan-base with his chiselled body these days, while Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, is rocking in a dapper look.
After being cast in J.K. Rowling’s hit film franchise, the Londoner also appeared as Skunk in The Estate Film in 2011 and played Simon in Common People in 2013.
At present, Herdman is working along with his dad, Martin Herdman in the drama Sink, which is scheduled to be released later this year.
