“Guardians of the Galaxy 2” will not be released for another year. However, rumors about the movie’s plot and possible cameos have been swirling online for a while now. One possible cameo is that of Thor.
The film’s director, James Gunn, has earlier insisted that the Guardians were separate from the Avengers. But a recent social media post from him seems to hint that the Norse god of thunder might just join the Guardian’s next adventure.
Or at least, that’s what Collider thinks. Earlier this week, Gunn posted a photo of himself on Instagram wielding Thor’s iconic hammer. This has been seen by some as confirmation that the Guardians will finally cross paths with an Avenger. “It would make a whole lot of sense for the Guardians’ first interaction with the known MCU heroes to involve the galaxy-traversing Thor,” the news site explained.
However, Collider did point out that Gunn’s photo in itself does not really prove anything. “It’s possible that this is simply a prop that shows up in the film somehow,” the entertainment news site suggested.
Gunn previously did tell MTV that the Guardians “are not subservient to the Avengers.”
Meanwhile, screenwriter Christopher Markus has hinted that the Guardians might appear in the next “Avengers” movie. “Let’s put it this way,” Markus told Nerdist.
“You know who owns that [Infinity] Gauntlet, right? And you know who’s in the other movie? And his kid is in that movie… you do the math!” Thanos is rumored to be the big villain in the upcoming “Avengers: Infinity War.” His adopted daughter Gamora is part of the Guardians.
Can’t wait to see Star Lord and the rest of the gang on screen again? You might have to wait around for it for a while. “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” won’t hit the movie theaters until April 25, 2017.
