A feud between sisters Meredith Grey and Maggie Pierce could erupt in “Grey’s Anatomy” season 13 because of one man.

The ABC medical drama has hinted that Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) might fall in love again – this time with Dr. Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson). In the previous episodes of season 12, viewers have seen Meredith being unfriendly with Nathan because of his feud with her friend Dr. Owen Hunt. However, Grey and Riggs hooked up in the finale of the previous season.

Herderson earlier revealed one common trait between the characters that could be good for their relationship. “Shared loss… and just the fact that maybe [he can be] someone in her life that she can relate to on that level,” Henderson told TV Line .

Yibada noted that new love could be good for the female surgeon since she hasn’t been involved with anybody else since she lost her husband, Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), in a tragic car crash. But apparently, Meredith’s half-sister Maggie (Kelly McCreary) is also eyeing Riggs.

Meanwhile, Kevin McKidd has confirmed his return in “Grey’s Anatomy” season 13 as Dr. Hunt, according to the Inquisitr. The actor was recently seen on photos shared by Sandra Oh on her Twitter account. The images have sparked rumors that Oh might reprise her role in the hit ABC drama as Meredith’s “person” Dr. Christina Yang. Owen and Yang were once married in the show. Oh was last seen in “Grey’s Anatomy” in 2014.

If Yang will return, is she going to ruin Owen’s wedding to Dr. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone)? In season 12 finale, Hunt proposed to Amelia. Is Meredith’s relationship with Riggs going to affect his friendship with Owen? Dr. Hunt’s late sister was Rigg’s ex-girlfriend.

More twists, tensions, and medical drama are expected to unfold in “Grey’s Anatomy” season 13 when it returns on September 22 on ABC.

Meanwhile, aside from McKidd, Chandra Wilson (Dr. Miranda Bailey) and James Pickens Jr. (Dr. Richard Webber) have also signed new deals to appear in Season 13.  So far, Sarah Ramirez was the only one who has confirmed her exit from the show. Ramirez played Dr. Callie Torres, who first appeared on the show in season 2 of “Grey’s Anatomy.”
