Would Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 bid goodbye to Meredith?

Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 premieres on September 22, and fans are hopeful it would tie up loose ends. High on their list of queries certainly involves Meredith’s love life. The death of Dr. Derek Shepherd aka McDreamy left a void in her heart and of fans who lived vicariously through their romance. Although she managed to move on, love came knocking on her door twice. Hence, viewers want to know who she picks.

However, did the recent statements of Ellen Pompeo hint at a surprising turn of events in Grey’s Anatomy Season 13? Has she taken on a new role that would take her away from the medical drama series? The previous season also marked the end of the contracts for most of the show’s lead characters. Thus, speculation was rife about who would stay or leave. Sara Ramirez opted to exit. Would Ellen Pompeo follow suit? Happily, she is not. The actress intends to stay with the series long after Grey’s Anatomy Season 13.

In fact, she has taken on Philosophy as her new partner. Together, they embark on the #CoolAger campaign. The theme of the program strikes close to home for the actress who has watched herself age on television. Although she admitted it is the hardest part of her work, she revealed that it was a major factor in her decision to stay on the series, according to People.

“I thought, ‘Why would I leave something that is super successful and pays me great to search the landscape?’ I decided that I would stay on Grey’s and be grateful and try to ride it out for as long as I could. And I am very happy that I made the decision to stay. It’s only gotten better with time,” Pompeo revealed. Hence, viewers can likely expect Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 to be better than ever.
