Has Meredith Grey officially found her new McDreamy? Grey’s Anatomy Season 12 is just two weeks away from its season finale and there’s already a lot of buzz about the upcoming drama.
In the penultimate episode of Season 12, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson) hooked up in her car. Meredith was having a really bad day so she turns to Riggs who encourages her to accept the things that are happening instead of going into a fit of jealousy.
This connection between Nathan and Meredith rekindles the kind of connection that would indicate that Meredith has finally found love after Derek Shepherd’s (Patrick Dempsey) death. But actress Ellen Pompeo clarified that no one will ever come close to replacing Derek as McDreamy.
“There will never be another McDreamy; there is not another Patrick Dempsey. It was a huge loss. No one will ever replace him. We can only move forward and change,” Pompeo tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Right now, thematically, you get one great love in your life. You don’t get two. You get other people that you like but you get one great love of your lifetime. And if you’re lucky enough to marry that person, you can’t be too greedy.”
Pompeo adds that while she’s uncertain where Nathan and Meredith’s storyline will go, it will definitely “make for some juicy drama.”
There’s still a lot to discover about Nathan’s true colours, but actor Martin Henderson comments that Nathan’s and Meredith’s personalities work really well together and that it would be interesting to see how their relationship progresses in the future.
Meanwhile, Camilla Luddington, who plays Jo in the series, teases major twists and turns in the upcoming episodes of Grey’s Anatomy Season 12. Speaking to Variety, she reveals that “there are so many things going on” and fans will definitely see big moments from the couples and individual characters.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 12 airs every Thursday on ABC.
