Fans shouldn’t give up hope on seeing the twins again after “Gravity Falls” ending with its season 2 finale. Alex Hirsch hints on possibilities on a season 3 and may even feature grown-up Mabel and Dipper.
It was such an ironic moment for the “Gravity Falls” creator, Alex Hirsch, giving his statement about the series. Quoted in ChattSportsNet, Hirsch said that he loved his characters too much that he just had to let them go by ending the series after two seasons. He acted as a father to his creations and mentioned that he could no longer drag his “kids” to places he no longer sees as believable.
This explains how Hirsch ended the series with the finale of last season. “Gravity Falls” officially ended when the twins, Mabel and Dipper, realized that their childhood isn’t a permanent thing and sooner or later, they would have to grow up.
International Business Times even reported that Kristen Schaal, voice actress of Mabel, gave a statement regarding the end of the series. In an interview, she said “Everyone can’t stay a kid, and everyone is going to become a different person in every phase of life. The show really eloquently draws [on] that, and everyone can relate to that moment when you realize you’re a losing a piece of your identity.”
The show has ended as the childhood adventures of Mabel and Dipper had to stop. But does that mean that fans will not see the twins anymore? Do the series really have to focus on the twins’ childhood?
The series may undoubtedly take a while before it resumes, if ever it does. However, it’s not entirely impossible for their return. Hirsh tells TV Insider that “It’s not inconceivable that one day we may return to this world because they are rich characters… they [the fans] will see threads in that [finale] episode that one imagines could potentially be addressed in some future form, whether its comical or special… ”
Do you think Hirsch should still make a third season? Or should they just leave it at that?
