Grammys 2016: Harry Styles, Zayn Malik Crosses Paths; ‘Awkward’ Meeting?

After months of no contact, Zayn Malik and Harry Styles finally cross paths. Was their meeting as “awkward” as you’d expect?

According to Mail Online, the former One Direction bandmates both showed up at the Clive Davis & The Recording Academy’s 2016 Pre-Grammy Gala. Malik even dyed his hair purple for the occasion. But they were not photographed together.

According to Hollywood Life, the lads most probably “did a lot of dodging and avoiding at the party.” Styles even reportedly avoided the red carpet just to do so.

Malik, who wants to go by Zayn now, previously admitted that he has not spoken to any of his former bandmates.

“I haven’t spoken to any of the boys at all, really…Publicly, when they were asked questions about it, they said that they’d spoken to me and that we were friends. But that’s not the case. I tried to reach out and be their friend but they haven’t even replied to any of my calls or texts,” Zayn was quoted by Hollywood Life as saying.

He also recently said unflattering things about the band. In an interview with Apple Music’s Beats 1Radio, Zayn claims that he knew that being in a band wasn’t right for him from the start.

“I just gave it a go because it was there at the time. I think I kinda always wanted to go. From the first year, I never really wanted to be there in the band,” Malik said.

His first single as a solo artist, “Pillowtalk,” recently made US chart history. The track made him the first British artist to debut at No. 1 in Billboard Hot 100. This is a feat his former bandmates never achieved.

Zayn’s first album, “Mind of Mine,” is slated for release on March 25. The date coincides with his departure from One Direction a year ago.
