GOP Debate: Trump Calls Romney ‘Embarrassment to Republican Party’

Donald Trump believes Mitt Romney is an embarrassment to the Republican Party. Trump’s reaction comes during the GOP debate, as he was asked to react regarding Romney’s comments about him.

Trump said Romney could have easily defeated Barack Obama, but he could not. The real estate mogul, now a GOP frontrunner in the US presidential elections, was earlier slammed by Romney.

“Here’s what I know: Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud,” CNN quoted Romney as saying. “His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University. He’s playing members of the American public for suckers: He gets a free ride to the White House, and all we get is a lousy hat.”

According to Romney, Trump has qualities like “the bullying, the greed, the showing off, misogyny, the absurd third grade theatrics.” Trump, on his part, said Romney was passing comments because he wanted to be relevant.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz, Florida Senator Marco Rubio and Ohio Governor John Kasich are only left to fight against Trump for the Republican nomination, even though 12 major candidates were supposed to fight for it in the beginning.

Rubio was asked why he indulged in personal attacks against Trump, even though the Florida senator had earlier said he was not into such things. Rubio said he made personal attacks against someone who had made fun of everyone including the disabled.

Democrats have been targeting GOP candidates for their involvement in personal attacks against candidates of their own party. Hillary Clinton earlier shared a video on Twitter to promote the difference between Democrats and Republicans in terms of attitude.

During the debate, Trump “totally” disavowed the Ku Klux Klan. He said he had done that on his Twitter account as well. Trump also said he was the best GOP candidate against Democrats.

“The last person that Hillary Clinton wants to face is Donald Trump,” he said.
