Until now, Android N developer preview was kept for Nexus devices, but now the OEM is available to their users starting with Sony. Previously, the developer preview for OEMs was introduced a month ago.
To recall, Google had a made the first indication about Android N Beta program to non-Nexus devices were through a string of HTML code on the company’s site.
According to Sony, the company has released the build of the Android N Developer Preview 2 for the Sony Xperia Z3, which is for to flash by users. It also suggests that the Xperia Z3 D6603 and D6653 were meant to behave earlier with the flash preview, notes NDTV.
“Use the N Developer Preview to test your apps with new system behaviours for saving power and memory. Extend your apps with new features such as multi-window UI, direct reply notifications and more,” said the developer site of Sony.
As for features and specifications, Android N preview offers split-screen mode, improved notifications, night mode, and quicker way to switch between apps. Sony Xperia Z3 users can use simple techniques to flash the Android N Developer preview by the help the ‘Software Repair’. Users are advised to connect to the handset through a PC and access the ‘Software Repair’ section inside the Sony Xperia Companion app.
It also notifies that this rollout would reach millions of users but still cannot access the preview version. However, the developer feature of the OS on other OEMs should be a welcome change as it will be rolled out by the Google.
However, we could only expect that the new feature would reach to other devices as well.
Last week Google had released the second Developer Preview of Android N and it was in the form of factory images for eligible devices, along with, OTA updates for devices. These were rolled out for users who have enrolled in the Android Beta Program, as per The Verge.
