Sony released the first glimpse of the upcoming “Ghostbusters” movie and the release date for its first official trailer.
Entertainment Weekly noted that back in 1989, “Ghostbusters II” predicted that the world would come to an end on Feb. 14, 2016. The world did not end in the recently concluded Valentine’s day, but Sony seized the moment by revealing the first look of the upcoming “Ghostbusters” reboot.
The new teaser trailer doesn’t give a glimpse of Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig), Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon) and Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones), but it does show the first footage from “Ghostbusters” including shots of New York City and speeding police cars, Entertainment Weekly noted.
The footage offered a very brief glimpse of a scene that involves some dire situation that requires a huge armed response from both the NYPD and the Army, Yahoo News reported.
The reboot of the 80s ghost fighting crew movie will be directed by Paul Feig. It will feature an all-female team of ghostbusters, but also star Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson and Chris Hemsworth.
The Aussie actor will be playing Kevin, the Ghostbuster’s receptionist, which was originally played by Annie Potts.
Comicbook.com noted the recently leaked “Ghostbusters” filming videos showed a blonde male standing in front of what seems to be the Ghostbusters Headquarters in a motorcycle, known to fans as Ecto 2. The “Avengers” star was then seen wiggling, looking like he was being “possessed by a ghost.”
Zap2it called the look a “perfect mix of adorkable and sexy.”
Meanwhile, it was previously reported that one of the original members of the 1984 cult hit will be having a cameo appearance on the film reboot. Slash Film also wrote that Dan Aykroyd will have a brief appearance in the upcoming movie.
The first official trailer of “Ghostbusters” will be seen by the public on March 3 while it will hit theaters on July 15, 2016.
