The season finale of “Game of Thrones” finally revealed the truth about Jon Snow’s parents. Or at least, the episode showed who his mother actually is. The show’s producers will likely keep the identity of Jon Snow’s dad a secret until the seventh season. But has Siri already revealed who he is?
According to Digital Spy, Siri fell back on wit to keep this crucial “Game of Thrones” spoiler a secret. Even the show’s official Twitter account tried to trip Siri up. But she still managed not to slip about anything.
Other fans followed suit. They also tried asking Apple’s knowledge navigator about Jon Snow’s real father. But Siri remained steadfast and refused to budge. “Like Ned, I promised I wouldn’t tell,” the virtual personal assistant told one fan.
With other fans, she was more generous with clues. “I’m sworn to secrecy, but I can tell you that he’s quite a singer,” she said. Siri also proved how much she knows about the many fan theories floating around about the show and book series. “To know the history, you’ll need to do the math: R+L=J,” Siri said.
Given these clues, Jon Snow’s dad could be Rhaegar Targaryen, Daenerys’ big brother. However, the show itself has not proven this yet. Some still thinks the “R” could stand for Robert Baratheon, Lyanna’s betrothed. However, Lyanna did tell Ned something along the lines of: “if Robert finds out [about the baby], he’ll kill him.” So he’s probably not Jon’s dad.
Meanwhile, other fans think the equation doesn’t involve “R” at all, but “A” for Aerys II, the Mad King.
Meanwhile, Isaac Hempstead Wright thinks his character, Bran Stark, will soon figure out the truth about Jon’s true parentage after having witnessed the shocking reveal. “I think he can probably work it out…that Jon Snow isn’t [his] half-brother,” the actor told the Hollywood Reporter. “But we still are pretty clueless as to the father, I think.”
Who is Jon Snow’s dad? Fans might have to wait for the show’s next installment to find out. “Game of Thrones” Season 7 will premiere on HBO next year.
