No one has seen Gendry for a while now. Viewers last saw him getting on a boat to escape Melisandre’s murderous scheme. But no one knows for sure what became of him afterwards. Did he figure out how to row properly or did he just sink? Where in the Seven Kingdoms did his boat land, if it did land somewhere? Will Game of Thrones Season 7 finally reveal what happened to him?
Fans have been wondering about Gendry for three seasons now. The hype around him is quite understandable. He seemed like a very important character during the first few seasons. Investigating him led Jon Arryn and Eddard Stark to their untimely deaths. He befriended Arya Stark. Melisandre told him he had king’s blood through his veins. His blood brought about the defeat of three self-proclaimed kings. So, everyone found it odd that the hit HBO show just forgot all about him as soon as Ser Davos set him free.
Will Robert Baratheon’s bastard son return in time for Game of Thrones Season 7? Or will he even get a spin-off series of his own instead?
Cinema Blend sure hopes so. The film blog thinks a Gendry spin-off could be a good idea. They even came up with a title for the possible action adventure spin-off series, Where In The World Is Gendry Of King’s Landing?
“He couldn’t have been on the water this whole time, and he was inexperienced enough of a sailor that he could have ended up blown to Braavos by accident,” Cinema Blend explained. “The spin-off would finally reveal what Gendry’s been up to.” However, HBO has yet to confirm this spin-off. The show’s producers haven’t confirmed if he’s alive or not, either. Mic.com also points out that Gendry could’ve been dead all this time since he was on a boat he didn’t know how to row and mentioned he couldn’t swim.
Game of Thrones Season 7 returns on HBO next year.
