This is probably Emilia Clarke’s best year ever!
Esquire magazine named the “Game of Thrones” star as the 2015 Sexiest Woman Alive.
According to USA Today, the same title was previously held by Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz.
Clarke portrayed Daenerys Targaryen, a.k.a Khaleesi or the Mother of Dragons, on HBO hit drama series. Her fierce character on “Game of Thrones” gave her two Outstanding Supporting Actress nominations on Emmys. Emilia also played Sarah Connor in “Terminator Genisys.”
Lisa Hintelmann, editorial projects director for Esquire, told ABC News that Clarke is the all-around favorite.
“Emilia Clarke is unforgettable in ‘Game of Thrones’ and was hands down the number one choice of Esquire’s staff, friends and family,” said Hintelmann.
Clarke will be the cover of Esquire’s November issue, which will hit newsstands on October 20.
The Esquire’s story described Clarke as someone who “manages to bring together a number of opposites, to make them natural: sweetness and toughness, emotionalism with a kind of cold-blooded determination. Something in these contrasts explains her sex appeal, too. She can play queen and kid sister, dominatrix and pal.”
The 28-year-old British actress recalled how she and her GoT character suffered on the earlier episodes of the show which involved a lot of nudity and even a rape scene.
“Once, I had to take a little time out. I said I needed a cup of tea, had a bit of a cry, and was ready for the next scene,” she said.
Clarke also remembered her initial audition for “Game of Thrones.”
“I had two scenes which told me nothing and not very much time in which to read all those books. So I did what every good actor does and Wikipedia’d the living crap out of it,” Clarke told Esquire.

In September, Clarke was also named as GQ’s “Woman of the Year.”
