Irish actor Kristian Nairn is somewhat coy about giving Game of Thrones Season 6 spoilers on whether or not his character, Hodor, is really dead. However, it’s not because he doesn’t want to share the fate of the fan favorite, but it’s because he genuinely doesn’t know.

Fans may remember the scene where Hodor holds down the door as an army of White Walkers try to get their hands on Bran and Meera. They break down the door and get to the loyal manservant, but it wasn’t specifically shown that he died.

During the Toycon in the Philippines, Morning News USA shared that the actor was asked about what happens to Hodor and he replied, “I know he’s dead, but it’s GOT, anything could happen”.

Indeed, there’s already a precedent with Jon Snow, which proves in Game of Thrones Season 6 and more episodes moving forward that seeing a corpse is not a guarantee that somebody’s dead. And Hodor was presumably killed by White Walkers so that could mean that fans will see the gentle giant once again, but this time as a zombie.

Thank you for ALL the lovely messages today guys. I'm literally overwhelmed. I love you all for real X

This time, nobody saw his corpse so it’s possible that he may have survived. As viewers know, those who are killed by the White Walkers needed to be burned so they don’t come back as zombies.

In another interview with Entertainment Weekly, Nairn was also asked to give Game of Thrones Season 6 spoilers on the fate of Hodor.

“You don’t actually see him [die]. It’s implied,” he said. “So who knows? He may come back as a White Walker, maybe he got away. But it’s a really good way to do it. I couldn’t have asked for a better goodbye to a character I love.”

Unleashed Reality also pointed out that Hodor didn’t die in George R. R. Martin’s novels so that should give hope for fans. Whether or not that can be considered as Game of Thrones Season 6 spoilers is still very much up in the air for now.
