‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Spoilers Confirmed by George RR Martin; New Cast & Characters Revealed

George R.R. Martin has said it – “Winds of Winter” will not be released before “Game of Thrones” season six premieres in April.

On his live journal post over the weekend, Martin revealed that the sixth book in his “A Song of Ice and Fire” isn’t finished yet.  But as avid fans –both of the book and TV series– are continuously asking, the writer had no choice but to answer.

“Here it is, the first of January. The book is not done, not delivered. No words can change that. I tried, I promise you. I failed. I blew the Halloween deadline, and I’ve now blown the end of the year deadline. And that almost certainly means that no, THE WINDS OF WINTER will not be published before the sixth season of GAME OF THRONES premieres in April.”

On questions whether the TV adaptation will spoil his book, GRRM also has an answer to that as well.

“I can’t think of any other instance where the movie or TV show came out as the source material was still being written. So when you ask me, “will the show spoil the books,” all I can do is say, “yes and no”… Some of the ‘spoilers’ you may encounter in season six may not be spoilers at all… because the show and the books have diverged, and will continue to do so.”

The author also teased what readers could expect from “Winds of Winter.”

He mentioned several characters who were all dead in the show but still alive in his books. GRRM said some will also die at some point though. The author further hinted that there are also characters in his book that were missing in the show.

Meanwhile, there will be two new additions in the cast of GoT season six.

Israeli actress Ania Bukstein and Yousef ‘Joe’ Sweid will both be appearing in the upcoming season, according to the Independent, citing report of Israel’s YNet.

Bukstein was born in Russia but has appeared in several Israeli films. She also took the lead role in “The Secrets,” “Rabies,” and “The Arbitrator.”

Sweid, on the other hand, had a recurring role in “American Odyssey” and featured in “Homeland.”

Their respective roles in GoT has yet to be revealed but Watchers on the Wall speculated that the pair will be used in one of the Essos storylines in season 6.
