Fans are now a few hours away from the third episode of Game of Thrones Season 6. A lot has transpired in the last two episodes that seem to be leading viewers to familiar territories (R+L=J theory) and long-lost characters (Rickon Stark). Here are five of the predictions for the upcoming “Oathbreaker” episode.
Jon Snow’s parents revealed
GoT loyalists are firm on the belief that the resurrected Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch is, in fact, the biological son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. This theory has been spreading around for years, and it’s high time that the show should confirm it. Viewers will definitely see Tower of Joy in “Oathbreaker” through one of Bran’s visions, as seen in this preview.
Rickon is back
According to Vanity Fair, Maisie Williams teased that Rickon may return to the show this season, and many are expecting his comeback in “Oathbreaker.” Rickon is presumed to make his onscreen comeback as a gift to Ramsay Bolton from the Umbers. In “Home,” Ramsay installed himself as the Lord of House Bolton after killing Roose, thus, it can be expected that the houses in the North will reconfirm their fealty by giving presents. The capture of Rickon might also set off a rescue mission led by Jon Snow.
Another theory suggests that the Umbers will present a decoy (Ramsay probably doesn’t remember what Rickon looks like anymore) instead of the real Rickon.
Jon Snow might break his oath to the Night’s Watch
George R.R. Martin previously said that characters who return from the dead are not the same anymore. This was somehow confirmed by actor Kit Harington in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“He realises something about his life now: He has to live it because that’s all there is. He’s been over the line and there’s nothing there. And that changes him,” Harington said about Jon’s revival.
That said one of the changes might pertain to Jon’s relationship with the Night’s Watch. He will most likely leave the Watch, and the wildlings will pledge their allegiance to Jon and form an army. Melisandre will side with them since she believes that Jon is Azor Ahai reborn.
Other “oath breakers”
A lot of oaths will probably be broken in episode three, and that includes Daenerys’ oath as a widow of a Dothraki khal. In the preview, we see her heading to Dosh Khaleen. Viewers would know that Dany doesn’t intend to spend the rest of her life mourning the loss of her husband along with other grieving widows. She will most likely break this out by escaping Dosh Khaleen.
Cersei will also break her oath of staying away from the Faith Militant. Instead of having Tommen handle things for her, she will personally plot her revenge with the help of the Mountain.
Varys makes an important discovery about the Sons of the Harpy
They’ve been terrorising Meereen for a long time, and they need to be stopped. Varys cooks up an efficient plan to crush them by discovering who their leader is.
