The house of Samwell Tarly will be completed on “Game of Thrones” season 6 even though Sam lost his closest friend Jon Snow in previous season.
“Downton Abbey” actor James Faulkner has been cast to play Randyll Tarly, father of Samwell (portrayed by John Bradley), Watchers On The Wall reported.
Randyll has been described as a strong-willed father and a fierce warrior. In “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series, Randyll was the only one who was able to defeat Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy), the International Business Times noted.
Faulkner has been known for his role as Lord Sinderby in “Downton Abbey” and as Pope Sixtus IV in “Da Vinci’s Demons.” He also appeared in “X-Men: First Class” and had worked in several video games such as “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” and “Dragon Age: Inquisition.”
“From Hell” actress Samantha Spiro has also been cast as Sam’s mother Melessa Tarly. To complete the Tarly family, “Macbeth” star Rebecca Benson will be playing Sam’s sister, Talla Tarly.
Some notable appearances of Spiro were in “Psychobitches” and “After You’ve Gone”. Benson, on the other hand, starred in National Theatre of Scotland’s production of “Let the Right One In.”
It was previously announced that “UnREAL” star Freddie Stroma will also be joining the hit HBO drama series. Stroma, who has been known as wizard Cormac McLadden in the “Harry Potter” franchise, will play Sam’s brother Dickon Tarly.
“Game of Thrones” is currently filming in Girona, Spain and the production in the city is expected to wrap up this week.
GoT season six is scheduled to premiere in April 2016.
Meanwhile, “Game of Thrones” is leading the 2015 Emmy Awards with 24 nominations – including one for outstanding drama series.
The Primetime Emmy Awards airs on Sept. 20 on Fox.
