Everyone tuned in to “Game of Thrones” Season 6 to find out if Jon Snow would return from the dead. It was only after the second episode that GoT fans felt relieved to see him come back to life.
The stars of the show also expressed their relief over his resurrection. Actress Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, revealed her excitement about his resurrection, the Mirror reported. The publication cited her interview with the Daily Star Sunday.
Clarke described his return as “sad and beautiful.” Moreover, she confided how the occasion brought tears to one of her macho rugby player friends. “It’s silly but I was so excited. I have a rugby player friend that has been reduced to tears. It’s sad, but it’s beautiful and it was a special thing,” Clarke said.
Even actor Kit Harrington was happy to see how much “Game of Thrones” fans cared about Jon Snow’s death. However, the actor did admit his guilt for lying to them about his character’s fate. Reports hinted at Jon Snow’s return in episode 2 entitled “Home.”
Saturday Night Live saw it fit to commemorate Jon Snow’s return with their own resurrection sketch, Mail Online wrote. The cast of SNL, along with the evening’s host Brie Larson, re-enacted the scene wherein the Red Woman cast her spell over the dead Lord Commander.
Slash Film counted their parody of “Game of Thrones” as one of the best sketches of the show. The publication gave credit to Taran Killam for his impression of Ser Davos Seaworth. It particular loved the addition of self-aware characters played by Cecily Strong and Brie Larson.
Indiewire noted how their characters mocked the inevitable resurrection of Jon Snow even as the show’s stand-ins insisted he was very dead.
“Just bring him back to life already,” Larson pleaded. “Yeah, we all know it’s gonna happen. Just do it!” Strong agreed.
