There’s a circulating theory right now, ahead of Game of Thrones season 6 episode 6, that Bran is actually the Lord of Light reborn.

Fans of A Song of Fire and Ice would know that the Lord of Light, also called R’hllor or God of Flame and Shadow,  is an important diety is Essos. Viewers of Game of Thrones would recognize the name through Melisandre who always thought that Stannis was the reincarnation of Red God.

Now, a Reddit post will pave the way for Game of Thrones season 6 episode 6 as it suggested that Bran may play a larger role in Westeros.

The post said that Bran’s powers cut across time and might have even influenced past events, including making the Mad King lose his mind.

Apparently, according to the Reddit theory, Bran is living in an alternate world dominated by the White Walkers. His mission therefore is to prevent that timeline from happening by going to the past and influencing events.

Bran has already proven his ability to communicate with people in the past when he called out Ned Stark’s name who was then fighting Ser Dayne and his father seemed to have heard his voice. Another theory is that Bran had something to do with why the Mad King became insane.

“Before his death, King Aerys was known to say he kept hearing ‘whispers’ but that he couldn’t understand what they were saying,” it said.

This theory, according to Bustle, does sound logical particularly in the context of the eternal battle between Dark and Light, the Yin and the Yang.

In A Song of Fire and Ice series, this dark side or evil may be represented by the Night’s King while Bran would have been the Lord of the Light.

Game of Thrones season 6 episode 6 will air on Sunday, May 29 on HBO.
