Game of Thrones Season 7 may offer more surprises when it returns in 2017, and one of those could be the return of the ruthless warrior Khal Drogo.
Actor Jasom Momoa, who played the character back in Season 1, shared on Instagram a snapshot with former co-star Kit Harington. He congratulated Harington (Jon Snow) and the rest of the cast and crew for the awards the show received at the Emmys. However, the phrase “Back to work” is what caught the attention of his followers.
This spark speculation that Momoa is hinting at a possible comeback in the HBO hit medieval drama. Reports noted that the photo was taken when the actor took a break from filming Justice League in London and visited his GoT friends in Belfast.
DigitalSpy noted that this is not the first time that a possible Drogo resurrection has been rumored. Last month, the Aquaman star was seen hanging out with GoT showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss in Ireland.
In a 2015 The Daily Beast interview with Momoa, he teased: “I talk to David and Dan all the time and we always talk about possibly coming back and how we miss each other, but I’m not sure if it’ll fit into the world. But there can always be flashback sequences. You’ll just have to keep watching.”
In GoT Season 1, Daenerys killed Grogo out of love. His body was burnt on a funeral pyre, not like in Jon Snow’s death. However, the character was seen several times in Season 2. Drogo appeared in Khaleesi’s visions when she visited the House of the Undying.
Could Drogo still be alive? Well, GoT has dragons and black magic. Basically, everything is possible. Some characters were even brought back to life. Thus, it could also happen to Khaleesi’s husband. Or the Dothraki Warlord may return in the form of a flashback, like what Momoa teased.
