Game of Thrones: ‘Expect More Magic’, Isaac Hempstead Wright on Bran Stark

Game of Thrones

For the entirety of the fifth season of Game of Thrones, Bran Stark was missing in action. The last fans saw him was in the Season 4 finale, when he reaches the mystical cave of the Three-Eyed Raven. The younger Stark brother, played by Isaac Hempstead Wright, returns with an upgrade to his green-seeing abilities in Game of Thrones Season 6.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Wright revealed that Bran Stark spent much of his offseason training with the Three-Eyed Raven (Max von Sydow) to improve his power of greensight.

“When we meet him in season six, Bran is by no means a master yet,” Wright said. “He has a lot of training and a lot still to learn, but he can do some really cool things. He’s on his way up there.”

Indeed so, Bran has grown stronger and his warging even leads him face to face with a White Walker.

The 17-year-old actor relates to Bran as an “umbrella character” who is not necessarily at the center of the story, but what he does is crucial to the rest of Westeros.

“You can certainly expect more from Bran’s magical powers [in Season 6]. They’re really coming into their own, which is fascinating to have acted. Also, it’ll be great to watch,” Wright said, via Rappler.

At the Game of Thrones press event in Singapore, Wright also fielded several questions about the show, such as his favorite character.

“I do like Tyrion,” he said. “He brings a real sense of wit and cynicism that is often kind of crushed in the Game of Thrones world.”

When asked who he would like to be paired with, Wright answered Daenarys. “You get the dragons as a bonus,” he quipped. He also revealed that his actual best friend on the show is Dean-Charles Chapman, who plays Tommen Baratheon.

Throughout its five-season run, Game of Thrones has killed off many of its characters and the list will continue to expand with the coming of Season 6. Wright was asked if actors are warned beforehand about their characters’ death, he candidly revealed that people would know that they will die on the show because they would receive a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of champagne. Of course, the “dreaded phone call” follows.

Which makes us wonder, did Kit Harrington get his?
