Game of Thrones came back for its sixth season on Sunday, April 24 on HBO. The show has been such a massive success with season five as its highest-rated season yet.
Game of Thrones Season 5 won the show its first Best Drama Series Emmy. It also broke the record for most Emmys won by a single TV series in a year.
Here’s a list of 5 things you need to know before you watch Game of Thrones season 6.
A Deviation From the Book
Season 6 is supposed to be based from George R.R. Martin’s sixth book, “The Winds of Winter.”
However, the book is not out yet and so this is the first time the series will actually go beyond the novel’s content. Reading the book after watching the season won’t spoil it for you.
“So much of what we’re doing diverges from the books at this point,” director David Benioff told EW.
Jon Snow Won’t be Dead for Long
In Season 5, Night’s Watch traitors had stabbed Jon Snow repeatedly and he was truly dead.
Although Jon Snow is dead, the question is whether he’ll be resurrected.
The first episode title is “The Red Woman,” which refers to the mysterious sorceress Melisandre. There have been talks that Melisandre would decide if it is really safe to bring Jon Snow back to life.
Arya Went Blind & Goes Through Assassin Training
Arya Stark is being trained to become an assassin in the city of Braavos with the Faceless Men. Maisie Williams, the actress who plays Arya, is surprisingly talented.
That’s why Arya’s character and activities are being able to stick together. In Game of Thrones Season 5, Arya was punished for not forgetting her past life.
For her refusal to “forget the old life” and also going against the Faceless Men’s creed, Arya is punished seriously this time and is blinded.
Bran is Back
Bran’s last appearance was in Season 4, when he was paralysed. After meeting a man at the ancient tree far north, Bran was said that he will fly even if he would not walk again.
Bran might become entirely interesting now that he is getting training in mystical arts, says VOX. Bran might become the magic user, the fans had been waiting for.
Daenerys in Distress
At the end of Game of Thrones Season 5, Daenerys was cornered in an arena by the forces who wanted to overthrow her rule in the city of Meereen.
They were planning to kill her in the arena.
Being a mother of three dragons, she was saved by one. She flew off on its back into the wilderness. However, the dragon left her far away from the actions of the Seven Kingdoms.
There she was surrounded by a bunch of Dothraki, the nomadic people.
